• This educational webinar explores the critical need to review and modify mental health questions on credentialing applications. Addressing the issue from both clinical and operational standpoints, the session will examine how overly invasive mental health questions can inadvertently create barriers for physicians and health workers seeking necessary care. The session features Dr. Stefanie Simmons, MD, FACEP, Chief Medical Officer at the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes' Foundation, and Heather Farley, MD, MHCDS, Vice President of Professional Satisfaction at the American Medical Association. Together, they will provide the clinical rationale for updating credentialing applications and discuss the physician's perspective on institutional stigma. To provide practical application for Medical Services Professionals (MSPs), Maggie Fuchs, CPMSM, CPCS, Regional Director of Medical Staff Services (WI Region) at SSM Health and President at WI Association of Medical Staff Services, will share her organization's operational process for auditing and updating their credentialing applications. Attendees will gain actionable insights and peer-to-peer strategies for evaluating their own organization's credentialing language to foster a stigma-free environment.
