Professionalism lapses range from minor missteps to egregious offenses, including breaches of patient confidentiality on social media, inappropriate comments, falsified documentation, and improper relationships with patients or colleagues. Regardless of severity, these behaviors should not be ignored. This session will explore the wide spectrum of ethical and professionalism violations encountered by medical staff leaders and the challenges of addressing them. Presenters will discuss how bylaws and policies can be used to establish a fair, consistent approach to reporting, investigating, and managing misconduct. Attendees will gain practical strategies for structuring meaningful interventions that not only address the behavior but also equip clinicians with the tools to prevent future missteps.
