  • This session will include a discussion of how to handle complex and complicated peer reviews. The focus of this session will be to walk through complicated and complex peer reviews that often become more difficult as they progress, and to discuss the various ways in which those issues can be addressed. The discussion will include cases that ended well, those that ended poorly, and those that became ugly in the process.

Learning objectives: 

  • Understand the objectives to keep in mind as peer review moves along, and when it might be necessary to circle back to a previous concern.
  • Describe how unexpected turns in a peer review are handled and what considerations went into making those decisions.
  • List various options available to the MSO as they begin reviewing matters for collegial intervention through formal investigation.
