Title: Credentialing by Proxy (CBP): Embracing Flexibility in a Telehealth World
Speaker: Frances Ponsioen, CPMSM, CPCS
Description: The delivery of healthcare is ever changing, and even more evident over the last year as organizations across the country were forced to use telemedicine as option in the delivery of healthcare during the COVID pandemic. Will organizations view telemedicine as a permanent solution post pandemic and work towards finalizing agreements with sub-specialists to meet the patient need? How does an increase in telemedicine affect the credentialing and privileging process? How is it possible to assure the competency of practitioners who never grace your hallways? What is credentialing by proxy (CBP) and is it the right option for your organization? During this session, we will review the credentialing and privileging options for telemedicine and explore how to develop a telemedicine process that effectively addresses the four steps of credentialing by embracing the flexibility of CBP provided by the regulators and accreditors.
